History Of The Practice

Mainstone Veterinary Clinic was established over 30 years ago in the premises of the former Horse & Jockey pub, on the western edge of Romsey, Hampshire. The practice was bought from its previous owner by Ken MacLeod and his wife Sue in 1989 and moved to new premises in 1995 to accommodate the increasing workload. Conveniently situated directly across the road from the original surgery, the new clinic occupies attractively converted farm buildings and has received a number of awards for its design, which complements the warm, friendly atmosphere to be found in the surgery.

The practice was one of the first in the South of England to be inspected  and granted the distinction of being a Royal College of Veterinary Surgeons approved Practice. We have recently been successfully reinspected for this classification. This award recognises the high standards of facilities and client care that the practice provides and is a tribute to the hard work of all the staff team.

Since the mid-nineteen eighties, the practice has concentrated exclusively on the treatment of family pets of all species, with staff having an interest in small/cage pets and exotics (reptiles, birds etc.) as well as the more usual cats, dogs and rabbits.
